Is there anyone actually working there? Not to moan but my file was sent
from NVC (CR-1 Visa married to USC) on the 27th July and so far London have
failed to answer any emails in the last two weeks and I cant get a simple
yes or no from the helpline. All I get told is "Its probably in the
building".
Is there any way you can actually check that London HAVE recieved the file
without wasting money on an extortionate premium rate number?
How do they send the file? Stick it on the back of a big fish and hope it
finds it way up the Thames?

Traditionally, and there is no reason to think this year has not
followed tradition, all US Consulates and that includes the one in
London, slow down due to summer vacations and petitions will take 4 to
6 weeks longer to generate a response to the beneficiary then during
other seasons of the year.  Also the recent terrorist activities in
London have more likely than not caused a bit of a slow down in
production as well.

Hi

My sons file was sent in Aug 2004        !!!!!!!!!!!

As still waiting at Jan 2005 started to e-mail then, and sent certified
letter- they still did not repond

In April 2005 congressman wrote e-mail, consulate did reply saying they
did not get approval   !!!!!!!!!  They requested more info from
principal via congressman and last replied to him on 29th April 2005
saying they would check if son was a CSPA protected case

July 11th sent request via congressman of any news, still waiting

I would leave it at least 3 months , then get congressman to chase on
your behalf. I feel they would be more likely to answer him than you

Good luck

I will up date if and when any news, please could you also update

I have also been waiting for my interview date my case was sent to
London on aug 9th so you are a little ahead of me so once you get yours
then I might be in luck. I have been emailing them as well but no
response which is really irritating. It has been over 2 years since we
have been doing this spouse visa process and I just want it all over and
done with. Hopefully we will all get a interview date soon.
Utah_Bound - 23 Aug 2005 20:55 GMT
Hey Rebellion,
If I hear anything I'll let you know. Theres a guy over in visajourney.com
that had his file sent 3rd August and according to DOS his file reached
London on the 5th August but yet according to London Embassy is hasnt
arrived neither lol.
Maybe the time of year has got a lot to do with it, but not responding to an
email sent over two weeks ago is beyond pathetic.
Still makes us wish we were tourists.... we'd have a visa within a few weeks
of applying and thats without them having any paperwork to start with.

date soon. Good Luck

Hi Utah Bound
I just wanted to let you know I got a email from the embassy and this is
all it says

Notifciation of the appointment will be sent to you within the next 8

shorter time.  No record is being made of this correspondence.  If you
need to e-mail us again, please return this e-mail.
Utah_Bound - 24 Aug 2005 19:00 GMT
Thanks for that.
Ive just sent them another email after reading your good news. Its just a
pain waiting thats all. Id at least like to get a medical scheduled sometime
soon so at least thats out of the way.
Good luck to you and if I hear anything about an appointment date I'll let
you know so hopefully you can get some kind of rough timeline yourself.

ok thanks I have a medical booked for september 8th but might have to
cancel it cause I think you need to take a letter or something like
that that comes in your interview packet im not sure but will probably
call them to find out and by that letter I wont have my interview
packet in time.
Utah_Bound - 24 Aug 2005 21:20 GMT
Reading around the forums on expats and visajourney, it seems a few have
gone for the medical while waiting for the final packet to arrive, myself
I'd call London Embassy just to clarify this is possible, like you Id love
to get it done right now but its more a case if will they allow it? I cant
see the problem but hey they love to give us problems right? lol

lol yep they sure do love to give us problems way to many of them. I
think I am going to just change my appointment to a later date by the
letter it sounds like I have awhile to wait anyway I need to get some
vaccinations done at my gp anyway before my medical.

There have been people who scheduled their medical well in advance of
their interview in London. Considering they require 4 days from medical
to getting the results to London and will NOT give you the visa before
they have medical results, you may want to do that now.

Sorry to resurrect this.. but...

Does this mean that as soon as we hear that our application has been
sent to London from Nebraska I can schedule my medical at MY convenience
rather than trying to get it booked in between receiving notification of
my interview and my interview date?

Bee,
It doesn't go to London from Nebraska-it goes from Nebraska to NVC then
to London. The interview date is roughly a month from date of
notification. If it were me, I'd book a medical as soon as I knew the
file has left NVC for London then at least you might get a choice of
location rather than have to take what might not be so convenient for
you simply because it's available.

Thanks for replying Cindy... and reminding me about the NVC.. I keep
forgetting about that bit for some unknown reason...

Its a great help knowing this because I'm way down in the South West of
England and getting an interview "close to home" in London was worrying
me a great deal...

Thanks once again...

Just curious --
do you all check out visajourney also, or not bother? Sometimes feels
like info/emotion overload, but has useful things tucked in there also.
Eg the london interview dates thread.
Seems like there are a few of us here on british expats -- rebellion34,
utahbound, myself etc that had files transferred from NVC to London
around July/Aug and are waiting for interview dates; on visajourney,
everyone currently on the relevant forums had files transferred in June
(and have Aug/Sept interviews). We'll see how much the summer has slowed
things.....
Would appreciate if people can update their news, even if it's all
pretty random and other dates can't be safely deduced! Best wishes,
pomola (CR1 sent from US Aug 16th)

I have been over there in visajourney for the past few months, although
on here for almost 3 years. :)  When we started the whole process
visajourney didn't exist.
Anyway we did IR1 instead of AOS here stateside (husband came here on K3
2 years ago). Our file was completed 31 May, sent out from NVC 9 June
BUT DOS said nothing doing on scheduling an interview until London had
the physical file, not just electronic. We got notification of interview
from London dated 10 July for August 19th interview there. We were VERY
concerned about the medical timing since we were having to make flight
arrangements from here to UK for interview. We were lucky in that my
husband is a Brummie and we wanted to schedule the medical for there
since we were going to be visiting family and friends in between the
immigration procedures. Seems alot of folks were having to make the trek
from aways away to Brum for medical because of the timing and because
they seemed to have more appointments open-that's why I suggested Dee go
ahead and schedule as soon as she knows her file has left NVC. Hopefully
that will get her a medical in London instead of Brum or heaven forbid
Edinburgh.
Utah_Bound - 29 Aug 2005 07:46 GMT
Aint that thr truth. I havent heard from a single person that has had an
interview date yet and whose case was sent to London end July/August. One
thing though... looks like the K3 has picked up in speed again. When I
started to file the CR-1 was faster than getting the K3 (Or about the same
time) but all of a sudden the K3 is faster again.
Best of luck to those still waiting... Who knows as the summer comes to a
close maybe we'll start to get a little closer to an interview date.
My file finalised 19th July and sent 26th July to London Embassy.

Hey there, I just wanted to add that after only a week they also
responded to my email - not that they were much help, but they did
respond.  Good luck to you both.
Utah_Bound - 26 Aug 2005 08:19 GMT
Just called London Embassy.
They are still processing my  file sent from NVC and according to the very
helpful lady, she told me that they would send out a letter hopefully within
the next few weeks (As soon as an interview date can be arranged). She also
suggested I called back within a week or two just to confirm and that I
would have between 3-4 weeks notice between the letter and my interview
date. So it seems that it will be roughly 6-8 weeks from them recieving the
file although there website does say about 12 weeks. Fingers crossed and
good luck to all those in the same postition.
Utah_Bound - 30 Aug 2005 19:15 GMT
Hey Rebellion and all others interested:
I finally got a reply from London Embassy today at 4:50pm something along
the lines of...
"An appointment has been scheduled for October 17 at 10:30 a.m. Written
confirmation of the date and time of the appointment has been sent to you.
You are required to undergo a medical examination. The medical examination
is conducted by Nuffield Hospitals Health Screening (NHHS) in either London,
Birmingham or Edinburgh." etc etc etc
So there is life in London after all. Hopefully your not waiting too long
neither.
Good luck to all those who have been a support and an inspiration to me
while the waiting game was on.
Thanks everyone.
PS 17th October is also my birthday... coincidence? lol
