Annotation beneath I-551 stamp after I-751 approval

skg@vex.net - 22 Oct 2005 18:28 GMT Hi, My I-751 was approved on 10/05 and on 10/18 I went to the Chicago district office to get my 10 year GC processed. I was given the stamp for work/travel. It has my A# and my new classification of "IF1" instead of the "CF1" I had on my 2 year GC. So far so good.
However the officer there also wrote by hand the following beneath my stamp:-
"Request for the removal of the conditional basis of your permanent resident status has been approved"
It does not alarm me in any way, as it is exactly what triggered the stamp and the new GC requirment. I was only curious as for whose benefit was this written. Mine or the POE inspector's? Has anyone else ever received such an annotation?

skg@vex.net - 24 Oct 2005 16:43 GMT Terrier, Oh ok. Diffrent day, different officer perhaps :) Anyway, since you got your new GC process started a day earlier than me, please inform the forum as soon as the actual card arrives in the mail. Just for estimation purposes :) Regards, S K Ghori skg@vex.net http://www.vex.net/~skg/

A little under 4 weeks which is not bad, next stop citizenship in about 7 months.
skg@vex.net - 29 Nov 2005 17:33 GMT Hi, Thanks for the info. I too got my 10 year GC. I was out of the country for the last three weeks on holiday and I got it yesterday when I collected my "held" mail from my local post office. So it must have arrived between Nov 7th and Nov 25th. I can check the envelope's postmark for the exact date but I have already stored it in my "Immigration Safe". I try not to touch it unneccesarily. Congrats on receiving the 10-year card. I was just wondering if it's only the envelope you have in the safe, and not the green card, too. You are supposed to carry the actual green card with you at all times.
Best Wishes, Rene
skg@vex.net - 30 Nov 2005 17:12 GMT Rene, Only the envelope :) The 10-year GC is right next to my DL in my wallet. My 2-year GC also spent two years confined there!!! Only got out for a few minutes during POE inspections and went straight back in everytime. Regards, S K Ghori skg@vex.net http://www.vex.net/~skg/

I don't have it front of me, but that sounds like about what my DAH got in his pp. It definately made mention of I-751, instead of the plain- flavor I-551 stamp.
For those of you still watching, no new card received yet. Ordered the new card Aug 17.

OK, looked it up for you. DAH's passport notation says 'I-751 Approved" under the I-551 stamp. I suppose it's to distinguish it from any other type of I-551 stamp for the benefit of a DHS employee--I can't imagine what benefit it would be to the passport holder.
But now I'm wracking my brain--look what you started! Under POE it says SPM which as an airport code returns Spangdahlem [Spangdahlem Air Base], Germany (nothing to do with us). Then again, our local airport code is PDX, but our local office is known as POO (cue ha-ha).
(4 minutes later) I should've guessed. SPM is *of course* where he entered. Usually known as MSP. Minneapolis. St Paul, Minn to be precise. google is my friend.
PS: still no new Green Card, since Aug 18.

I just looked up SPM in my I & N Service Administrative Manual, and that is the code for the port of entry of St. Paul, MN.

Why are airport and DHS codes mixed up by people -- LOS, not LAX, NYC, not JFK, CHI, not ORD, etc etc.
BTW, I'm mildly amused that the three letter code for Ton Son Nhut Airport is still "SGN."

One reason I conflate them (love that word-- it will always make me think fondly of you, MrF!) is that here in DePortland, we have adopted PDX as a shorthand for the city name-- it doesn't just mean the airport itself, it can be and is used everywhere from newspaper headlines & stories to addresses on envelopes (I still remember when we first lived here and I worked in a certain toney department store--my Old Money clients would give me their mailing address with 'City' followed by the Zip code). Anyway, I wouldn't say I expected them to be the same (I knew our office is POO), just having a little fun. And now you know what passes for fun in PDX :)

Why would "old money" say they lived in San Francisco? Am I missing something.

Theres an annotation under my I551 stamp (the one pending my 2 yr GC), and it looks to say "Bollocks" (Highly unlikely thats what he wrote - but sure as hell looks like it to me!!)
