Questions about fiance interview @ London Embassy

Hi

I have a few questions,

I live in the UK, and my fiance live sin the US (we plan to move to the
US) and my fiance filed the petition for me back in June.

1) How long have others had to wait for their 'interview'.

2)  When you are notified about the interview, are you given a date or
do you call up and choose one.  Ontop of that, I know you need to bring
a few things, like the police records - where do I get this?

3) After I've had the interview, what happens next, (presuming I've
'passed') do I get a visa then and there or does it need to be
processed again, -  is sent to me.

4) When the visa is issued, does it have an expirery date (I realise I
have 90 days once I enter the US), however i am in FT employment and
must give a 30 day notice period.  Will this be a problem?

Thanks you

JJ

police record is obtained from your local police station. You have to
fill a form out, show ID ie driving licence/passport and pay £10 approx
40 days later it comes in the post and is valid for 12 months.

Hi JJ,

I can help with numbers 3and 4.  After your interview, if you get
approved (you should, unless you are missing paperwork or something), I
believe they will send your passport with the visa inside back to you in
a couple of days.  Once you have the visa in hand, it is valid for entry
to the USA for 6 months.  So you have plenty of time to give your 30 day
notice at work. :)

Best Wishes,
Rene

Thank you both for your speedy replies.

I wonder, re: the police records...

Presumably I must produce this for the interview.  Does this mean I
schedule the interview in my own time, because surely if they send me a
letter saying "your interview is on XXXX date"....how will I have time
to get it?!

I dont want to get the police record now incase its out of date by the
time my interview does come round.

The embassy does set an interview date for you.  However, I've heard
they are also pretty good about changing that date if you need to.  If
they give you a date that you can't make, just email and ask for a
particular date, hopefully they can accommodate.
