dreamchaser - 29 Nov 2005 20:41 GMT I know I have asked before - but does anyone have any other contact number for Nebraska....at all............. please
I know I am suppose to wait and be patient, but the days go by, and even more people are being approved in Nebraska, past our date (which is so lovely for them), but to top it off, I have now been told to try and avoid stress, ha, fat chance whilst going through this process.
Having been told for the last 2 weeks to 'call back in 2 days' if you havent heard from us, we are just stuck now what else to do..... so if anyone does have a number, it would be so greatly appreciated???
(I think its the not knowing that is difficult, I think once an approval comes through the rest is just easier, because we have a goal to work towards, a date to fix our energy on, but being in limbo is difficult) sorry to rant

To my knowledge, the general public can't call the service centers directly. Only perhaps an immigration attorney with a link somehow to someone on the inside could do that.
If I remember correctly, you guys are just starting out, right? If so, be prepared for this "not knowing" to happen many more times along the way. It's something you need to learn to get used to. If you are truly worried, and your petition is considered overdue, you can try getting a local congress person involved.

No we havent just started out, this is the second time we filed, thanks to mis-information from USCIS (and wisihing we had found these sites before we filed our first application) The first one was denied because of the '2 year' rule.
No one at the 1-800 number is consistant in what they tell you, they keep telling us to ring back in 2 days and they will chase Nebraska for us, but when we ring back, nothing, not a thing, just the same reply, call us back in 2 days. Our 30-60 days is up and still nothing.
And to top it off, my GP has told me, to avoid stress of any kind, (ya right) so, here we are again, trying to get someone to give us a straight anwer. I think the fact that people who filed at the same time as us, and also after us have already been approved (I know you shouldnt go on others cases, and Office A may be quicker than Officer B) is making us worry too.
Its just not a user friendly system

That was a separate petition, and that one is finished. For all general purposes, you *are* just starting out, with your newer petition. This is the first step (filing the I-129F) in the long process of obtaining the K-1 visa, so you are just starting out. You're at the very beginning level right now.
You are correct, that the 800 number is not consistent with the information they hand out. Be aware of that in the future when calling them. Also be aware that if they give you wrong information and you act on it and run into problems, the fault is not theirs, it's yours. It's not fair, but it's the way it works.
If your doctor recommends it, I would try very hard to stay stress-free. The immigration process IS stressful by nature, and it will take some work on your part to feel relaxed during it. If you start out this stressed right at the beginning, be prepared for more stress later on...more waiting...more wondering where your file is at....what stage it's at...when you'll get approval, etc.
As mentioned, if you feel your case is too far overdue, you can try contacting your congressman for assistance. But as you already mentioned, you do realize that others might be processed faster than yours, even if they were filed after yours. Hang in there.

The processing dates are updated twice monthly; usually at the 1st and 15th of the month or thereabouts. www.uscis.gov Nothing has changed since your last thread becasue not enough time has gone by for the posted dates to be updated.
Since they are still parked on your processing date, I still maintain that your case is most likely sitting on someone's desk at the moment and we'll see your NOA2 post here in the not-too-distant future.
You can either: -start gathering everything necessary for the next steps & preparing for the more labor-intensive 'moving to America' part of the process or -go to visajourney where you will find thousands willing to split hairs, parse timelines and commiserate with you about the unfairness of it all
I'd suggest that the first option will cause you much less stress and will be within Doctor's guidelines.

I think stress and K1 go together, thats the nature of the beast. And as much as I try not to think to much about my case, its not that easy, in fact, I dont think there is an hoyur that goes by that I dont think about it. (But then I guess thats me and a few hundred others)
But thanks for the advise. As for everything else, all done and dusted, all evidence needed I have gotten, Police Certificate, I-134, photos, etc and also my own personal stuff here sorted, plus the job of moving to the USA (if that ever happens) .
I think its the not knowing that is causing the problem. Knowing you have been approved it half the battle I think. Because the rest, although not a walk in the park, is easy, knowing that an approval is in place, and you have an end goal.
But thanks anyway

Once the petition gets approved, there will be more paperwork for the alien to do, in order to apply for the K-1 visa, and then an interview and another approval.

Most people - and I'm talking 90%+ of all those in the process - view the immigration process as a burden. Sheila and I viewed the immigration process as an adventure... one that had unique twists and turns to be sure, but an adventure nevertheless.
Perhaps we were ahead of the general curve though... we were both on 2nd marriages, in our mid-40's when we started, financially stable, established in our respective careers, and under no real time constraints.
Younger couples are far less patient... things have to happen quickly for them or they feel as though they're losing all control. Such is the sad result of the times into which they were born.

Actually, you're stressing yourself some more simply by trying to get an answer. Let it go!
See... you're worrying excessively over something you cannot change and have no control over. Relax... let it go.
