Hello,
Here's some history:
I have a pending family-based AOS petition. Had my interview in June
2005 and was told by the officer that although she has all the
information to approve my petition, she is waiting for the results of
the security check to come through.
We waited few months and sent an "AILA inquiry" (is that the right
term?) through an immigration attorney. After a couple weeks, they got
the response which said something like "the petition is in 1-step G325
hold pending name check clearance..." (any idea what this means? - G325
is the biometrics form, so is it the security check mentioned by the
interviewing officer?). I immediately filed for the renewal EAD with the
Chicago lockbox on the same day the response was received.
Now, my current EAD is set to expire early January. I recently got a
letter from the human resources dept at my company that in order to
continue employment they need copy of valid employment authorization.
What are my options in case the renewal EAD does not come in before the
current EAD expires - while filing renewal EAD and reading the
instructions, I realized that the number of days after which I could
get an interim EAD is 90 days [I was under the (wrong) impression that
the "waiting timeframe" is 60 days, or else I would have filed the
petition earlier]
- Is it possible to request expedited processing of the renewal EAD? If
so, how would I go about doing so?
- For the renewal EAD, would I need to go for fingerprinting/biometric
photographs at ASC (I already mailed in two passport photos with my
petition)? I had already gotten fingerprinting/biometrics photos
process done early Jan 2005 prior to getting my current/first EAD. How
do they decide whether or not I need to go for fingerprinting again?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
-Topper

Hi Topper,
Biometrics is required with each EAD renewal.

The surest way to get Mr. Folinsky and Mr. Udall to *not* read your
post, is to specifically request that they do!
