Hi, everyone, I have a question regarding the N-400 process. Great thanks
for any advices.
1. Do I have to cancel my original nationality at the time of apply or
interview for N-400? My original nationality is Chinese.
2. If I do keep two nationalities, both American and Chinese passports, is
it illegal? What will be the punishment?
Thanks again for any help.

It isnt illegal just make sure that your country allows dual
citizenship cause some countrys don't. I am not sure about having to
cancel your original nationality...good luck

You may not have a choice in the matter. I don't think China allows dual
citizenship. Confirm that from a reliable source.

Hi:
This is the SECOND time you have posted this question and the first time
caused a pretty long string which included some pretty good answers.
What are you looking for and what is the cause of your concern? I have
the feeling you are worried about something and I'm not sure what it is.

Foli, Foli, Foli ... am surprised at you.
Don't you know by now? People keep posting until they get the answer
they WANT! (-:

Hi:
But what does OP "want"?? That is what I can't figure out. He has
reason for asking.

I think he badly wants to keep his Chinese citizenship and the prospect
of not being able to is freaking him out immensely.
Also, maybe he's just not understanding the answers he's been given.

Hi:
I'm not so sure of that. Also, it pays to remember that there are TWO
different "Chinese" nationalities although there is "one China."
I wouldn't presume what he wants.

As Alexander Dane said "Jason, you're just going to have to figure out
what it wants. What is its motivation?" [Galaxy Quest]

Like Mr. F said, you've already asked about this in another thread and
got tons of responses. You even followed up your original post with...
Thanks all for the reply. I get the idea that I do not cancel the
original citizenship until American citizenship is granted. That makes
sense for me anyway.
So... if you know that you don't need to "cancel" your original
citizenship, why are you asking again?
