Changing name after marriage - passport

Hi there,

I got approved for my K-1, came here, got married, had a brilliant
honeymoon in New York, and now we're looking at all the AOS stuff.

The thing is, I've now changed my name, so what happens about my
passport? Will I need to get a new one? How will I go about this? I
certainly can't surrender the one in my maiden name, since it has my I-
94 and visa in it. However, I have no ID in my new name, which is going
to present a problem before long.

I'm obviously not going anywhere for a while, so is it acceptable to
keep my current passport and not get it changed?

Many thanks,
Synth

Nothing happens... this is quite common. Keep the passport until it's
ready to expire and then get a new one with your married name. If you
fly outside the US, purchase plane tickets using the same name as what's
in your passport.

I changed my name on my passport after marriage and the British Embassy
sent my old one back with the new one, with the I-94 and K-1 visa still
in it. They did cut the corner off so I wasn't able to use it any more,
though. I did it just to avoid the potential hassle of having thing in
different names, but it's a personal choice.
