A friend of mine want to sign in as a co-sponsor to my I-864, but he is
asking if he can quit it f.e. within a time? Does signing this document
mean that he can not unsigned it and it has to stand there as long as
it needs (till my us.citizenship?)

By signing the I-864, the co-sponsor will be legally bound until one of
the following happens:

1.  you become a US citizen; or
2.  you leave the USA permanently; or
   3.  you work 40 qualifying quarters (about 10 years of full-time
   employment); or
3.  you die.

He can't un-sign it or quit, no.

Rene, thank you for replying. Me and my wife sent all papers last year,
but she did not make enough in  2005. It seems like my friend is not
willing to do it anymore since he can be sue by some government
organization (that what it stays on the first page). My wife does not
meet requirements for last year; I did. can I be a sponsor for myself?
(I read it somwehre that people put themeself on I-864A, but I do not
know how it works). If my wife currenlty does not meet requirements,
and I can not put myself as a sponsor, is my GC request going to be
rejected? (intervew in 3 weeks from now)

Hi Joe,

If you and your wife have lived together for 6 months or more, and your
combined income will meet the poverty guideline, then yes, you can
include your income on the I-864.  You will also have to fill out an I-
864A and supply your W-2s (if you worked in 2005) and current employment
letter.  Including pay stubs is a good idea.  Don't forget to include
the most recent tax return.

If by the time of your interview, you don't have a new I-864 or a co-
sponsor, OR if the officer (for some reason) does not approve your
income on the I-864, then most likely the officer will give you some
time to come up with a new joint sponsor.

Best Wishes,
Rene

Thank you Rene for your time. I know exactly what to do now. We are
trying to safe as much as possible for downpayment for house. I have
already safed $15,000 in cash and was wondering if I should get signed
proof of that from Bank of America, and if this is also any kind of
guarantee for INS that I can survive here on our own?

Do you qualify just on your combined income?  If so, you don't need to
worry about assets like cash savings.  If you were to use assets anyway,
they would have to equal 5x the amount you fall short in meeting the
requirements.

No, having some cash savings is no guarantee of anything.
