My daughter is moving to Melbourne from the UK. She wants to take her TV and
DVD player etc. Do UK appliances work in Oz. Are the systems compatible?

My wife and I are both applying under one application BUT the
problem for us was that the points change required us to apply for our
Class BN Sub-class 136 before we intended to marry. We wanted to wait
until we were married (which was on 22nd April 2004). This caused the

First, I am happy to get the AoS bond letter - feels there
is light at the end of the tunnel - applied Skilled Australian sponsored
in February 2003.
Problem being the letter is addressed to my spouse -

Has anyone received an Aussie Police check back recently, and if so when
did you actually apply? Mine was sent from the UK on March 20th and the
cheque (supplied by Austrlian relatives) was cashed on May 10th...but
still no sign of the damn report.

Assuming you are taking about a skilled family sponsored visa
(as the requirements can be different for other types of visa), and in
broad terms:

Finally after a wait of 18 months the YELLOW eagle has landed. The
period saw a lot of mixups. At first DIMIA didn't update my address
properly, then was requested to send wife's x-ray (after submitting
medicals), then asked to pay for wife EEC but under the wrong File

I thought i might share our experiances with you regarding our
application to the DIMIA.
I was classified by the TRA back in March
2001, and was given a 'Deeming Date' of Dec 2000, we applied for a 136
