Hi, I am currently on an F1 VISA and am travelling home in December for a short visit. I have already purchased a round trip ticket to fly home and return. While there, I intended to renew my VISA and return in January to resume school.

Is it possible to get an H1-B visa outside the quota? My friend told me that if you worked for a non profit organisation or university the quota doesnt apply? I am pretty skeptical of this. Are there any circumstances where an H1-B visa can be obtained outside quota.
