I applied for a change of status from J1 to F1 on June 28 and
on July 28 was asked for additional evidence (I did not sign the 1st
page of I-20).
I sent them a new signed I-20 and on August 11 my online status stated:

Here's my situation:
Currently I am in the US on an L1 visa with company A and company B has
filed I-129 form to change my status from L1 to H1B; Company B has also
filed I-539 for change of status of my dependents from L4 to H4.  I
