We're in the final stages of coming over but because everything's been
done on short notice I can't come and stay at the same time as my

I am on L1 visa. I intend to go to business school in fall 2007. By
then I would have stayed in US for 5 years. If I get F1 visa for 2
years, that would make 7 years of stay in US. Will I be then eligible
to stay further in US?

 I am on H1B and my wife came here on H4. Now, she got her H1B
approved with her maiden name. As I didn't know the issues about last
name change, we went to Indian embassy in DC and changed from her
maiden name to my last name.
