I just read today that they are no longer issuing SSN to L1 visa
holders... Is this true? And if so, how am I supposed to take care of
all the banking, driver licensing, etc. ?

The governor in each state should announce that anyone convicted of  a
crime against an illegal will get an automatic pardon - which means the
DA won't even press charges to begin with.  The pepper-bellies will then
