I went to the Detroit BCIS office on Mt. Elliot this morning, in hopes
of getting a new Travel Document, but also to check on the status of my
AOS, and to my VERY pleasant surprise, my background check was FINALLY

I married while visiting on the VWP and applied for AOS, EAD etc before
my status ran out. I received my EAD in person yesterday at Seattle and
would like to know now if I am entitled to apply for a SSN even though I
am out of status/ adjusting status. How do I answer the question ...

Once me and my fiance marry (on wednesday!) what do we have to do? I
know I have to file an AOS but I keep seeing 'EAD' mentioned on here -
what is that? I'm clueless right now with all these abbreviations.
Also, how soon after I file my AOS do I get my SSN? Not working is

I read on this forum that local filing is being phased out for Adjustment of
Status.  Is there any way that I can find out whether Boston is still doing
local filing?  We were planning on getting married at the end of this month
and then immediately filing Adjustment of Status.  If ...
