It's a long story, but I'll cut to the chase.
My wife's I-485 will not be adjudicated for another 12-18 months. She
entered on a K-3 visa. It expired in Feb 2006. We have a pending I-131
but her mother is ill not life threatening but seriously ill.

a citizen ...there was talk of a change and a new examination .... is
